CFTally: Frequently Asked Questions > CrossFit Programming > Will CrossFit programming help my sport performance?

Search the FAQ for entries containing:

Absolutely! Yet, CrossFit programming is not specific to any sport other than CrossFitting. That is when you plan a conditioning regime for a sport you analyze what happens on the field and then design a program that optimizes your on-field performance. A simple what to say this is you specialize on what happens during your game and train to do better at those tasks. This is necessarily a subset of what you can do since not everything that can happen happens on the field. This is due to rules like how long the game lasts and what's allowable, etc.

CrossFit programming is designed to make you a better athlete regardless of the game or sport you play. That said it is true that if you have ambitions to compete at the highest level of your sport you will have to specialize. CrossFit is still very useful but might best be saved for the off season.
