CFTally: Frequently Asked Questions > CrossFit Beginners > What's with the pictures and videos?
Taking pictures of the workout of the day (WOD) is kind of a tradition at many CrossFit affiliates. We take them partly because completing a CrossFit workout is an accomplishment and partly because we like to document what we do. When you've given your all and done the workout (WOD) to the best of your abilities it's worthy of taking a picture. Lot's of our athletes use them for their Facebook picture.
The videos are a practical way to give our athlete's feedback on how they are moving. Often our athletes will report back that after watching the video they see exactly what we were yelling (er coaching) to them about. These videos are not supposed to be "how to" videos like those on CrossFit.com, nor do they especially exemplify the particular athlete's form. They are simply one example of many and simply the one we got on camera.
Using slow motion is one example of the coaches at CFTally going the extra mile to provide our athlete's with the best possible coaching.
Once the movement is slowed down it is much easier to catch the details of what's happening on screen. If you've never had this sort of close coaching scrutiny then you really don't know the benefit it enables in your ability to improve.
