i know this has a correlation to body weight but is there some magic number you should shoot for for each body weight. like some kind of formula or something. i just sort of want to know where i stand. maybe you guys can tell me i weigh right at 190. i bench 315, the last squat max i got was on box squat at 750, and i used wrist straps but got 540 on deadlift.

Hi Brett,

There isn't a magic number but there are some charts you can use to see where you are in comparison to different athletic classes i.e. novice and elite. Referencing Rippetoe & Kilgore's book, Practice Programming, you are near elite level for bench press. They have at bodyweight of 198 advanced is 289 and elite at 362. For deadlift they list 567 as elite for 198 lbs, and for squat 504.

I think you would find their book very interesting.
